Polo Ralph Lauren engaged MetaDesign to design the look and feel for its new corporate intranet. The company wanted the intranet to serve as a 'virtual headquarters', bringing the Polo brand to the desktop of every employee worldwide. Expressing a highly visual brand through functionality rather than imagery was a central theme throughout the numerous concepts MetaDesign presented to Polo Ralph Lauren. In the selected design solution, MetaDesign communicated Polo Ralph Lauren's heritage as a brand with a true legacy—dating back to when the company comprised Polo founder and CEO Ralph Lauren and six others in a small office.

Since the launch of the redesigned intranet, Polo Ralph Lauren employee communications—particularly at the human resources level—have improved significantly. The improved intranet has increased efficiencies across the company, and has resulted in greater employee retention and global cost savings for Polo Ralph Lauren.
